It's up, it's up, but not pretty yet!

Greetings my grain and sugar free friends!

I never knew there was so much to this blogging.  I visit other people's often but from templates, to inserting photos to linking.  I have much to learn.  Please be patient with me. I plan to make this much more appealing to the eye. I also will ask up front for forgiviness on my grammar and writing as it never was my forte.

I'm so happy you are here visitng!  It means you have taken an interest in your health and are ready to reap all the benefits of living a grain free, sugar free life.  I wish I could take credit for all that I post but I am just a student on a very long journey of nutrtion.  I am excited that I have found a true passion and that is to help others with choosing this way of life.  I am here to help you and encourage you.  Our sermon in church today was about being an encouragement to others and that is what I believe God wants me to do.  I'm going to just spit some things out at you that I have learned in terms of buying products and brands I have loved.  There are a lot of new people so I apologize for the repeats.

These are common questions I get:

What and where do you buy your almond flour:
http://www.honeyvillegrain.com/  $4.95 flat shipping
This is blanched almond flour which means that the skins have been removed, thus creating a finer texture we are most used to in baking. It is hands down the best I have tried, far superior to Bob's Red Mill in my opinion and many others.
I purchase a 25lb box with a coupon code.  You will want to store your flour in the refrigerator or freezer.

Sweetener:
Swerve http://www.swervesweetener.com/
Use code: MARIA10 for 10% off your order thanks to Maria Emmerich (more about her later).
My family is very picky about artifical sweeteners.  Well this one is natural, and tastes amazing.  It's a little pricey but worth it to my family.  I suggest buying it in the bulk packs and watching for free shipping promotions.  I have done research on this sweetener and feel more than comfortable giving it to my children.   I like the confectioners the best as I think the granular is a bit gritty, kind of like that Sugar In The Raw brand if you have tried that.
I honestly can not taste a difference from sugar and this.  Your opinion may differ but making homeade ice cream with it is amazing! Even if you save this sweetener to use when you bring baked goods to your sugar friends they will be amazed.

Coconut Oil:
Costco  Organic Extra Virgin 54oz. $16.99  This is cheap!  You will find many recipes call for coconut oil.  It's also wonderful for your skin and hair and sore throats.

Nuts:
Raw again at Costco or Sam's club or Nuts.com if you don't have a membership.  http://www.nuts.com/

Jay Robb Whey protein powder:
I shop around for that.  Vitamin Shoppe online often has free shipping and great prices.  I suggest investing in vanilla and unflavored for recipes.  We love strawberry and chocolate as well.

I use Amazon for most other hard to find stuff.  They have excellent prices.

I have been living this lifestyle for over 6 months and like I said, I learn from others and by reading and reading and reading some more.  Hopefully me sharing with you can give you a few shortcuts and save you some money on recipes that might not be so great.  Everything I post I will have tried or had a close personal family or friend that tried.  Ingriedients aren't cheap so putting up tried and true is surely helpful.

Resources:
Maria Emmerich!  She is amazing. I am grateful that she gave me permission to post her recipes.   I will say that she has made this transition for my family super easy with kid friendly recipes and a "healthified" recipe for almost all of our favorites.  I strongly recommend you buying any one of her cookbooks. As much as I love the Wheat Belly Cookbook by Dr. Davis, I have found that these recipes are bit more kid friendly.  Not a bunch of funky ingriedients.  Can flip through, make your list and have the staples in your cupboard.
I encourage you to visit her website and then subscribe to her blog.  You can do searches for almost any food in her blog and find a recipe.  This was dinner tonight and amazing!  I used egg whites in the bread.  This is the best bread recipe I have used to date.  I enjoyed packing sandwiches for lunches tommorrow.  Below this is the cereal recipe I make every 2 weeks.  I 8x it so I can always have on hand.  I have a cereal family.  I also love her PB Crunch.  Just visit her cite and type cereal and a few great options will come up.  A common ingriedint that she uess is Jay Robb protein powder.  The uses for this are endless.  It's amazing for breakfasts on the go.
Our Family Favorite:
12oz UNSWEETENED Vanilla almond milk
2 tbsp of natural peanut butter
1 scoop Vanilla Flavored Jay Robb Whey Powder
1/2 banana (higher carbs but my kiddos can handle those)

Sloppy Joe's on Sub bread by Maria Emmerich

Facebook, you need to Like Wheat Belly page and Wheat Belly recipes as well as Maria Mind and Body.  Lots of good resources and if you have questions there are people who know a lot that can answer.  On the Wheat Belly Facebook page, Dr. Davis himself often replies to posts.  He has responded to several of my posts which has been so helpful.

I too, am here for you.  I feel like God has put an annointing on my life to share this message and be an encourager to others.  Please don't hesitate to call, text or email me with questions.  If I don't have the answer I'll try to find it for you.  This is a learning process and you will soon get comfortable with all of it.

I have so much more I want to say but there may be a limit to how long these blogs should be sooooo, I bet you will see me this week.
